Online Reputation Management Case Study and Real World Quick Tips
I thought I’d pass on some quick tips to move down negative posts for a client. Their request was to make some negative posts disappear–quickly. I’ve been working with them for several months so I knew what will get the biggest move.
- The first thing I did was update and optimize their YouTube videos with the negative search term. For example, lets say the search term that was producing the negative results was, “John Smith Reviews.” I then put “John Smith Reviews,” in the title of the YouTube video, along with other text. Since this is indexed quickly by Google, the impact was nearly immediate. Within a day, there was movement.
- Next, I updated the company’s web site with the search term. So, on a few pages, I added, “John Smith Reviews and Testimonials.” This produced nearly immediate results–about two days later, several negative posts moved to the next page (!).
- I updated Google Places with the correct business name, which helped get movement on some of the other posts.
- Finally, I added blog posts with the search term, “John Smith Reviews,” linking to the YouTube videos. This worked great.
