Why Being on the First Page is Crucial: Almost All Clicks Come from Page One
95% of all search traffic comes from the first page of searches. This is across all three search engines, according a study of 8.9 million queries sampled over nine months.
Naturally, these results point to something we’ve probably known empirically ourselves when searching: get on the first page and focus on moving up the ranking. What is also interesting about the study is how similar the results are from Google, Bing and Ask.
Obsessing about being on page-one could be counter productive, depending on your business goals. But if you want to capture the attention of a searcher, it’s “page one or bust”.
